The Customer
Designknit is a young and innovative made-to-order knitwear company 100% Made in Italy. The idea is to propose a personalized garment, combining model, yarn, fineness, colours and other details, starting from eco-friendly materials, following the ‘socketing’ method.

The Request
In order to improve customer experience in the eCommerce and drive more engagement, we were required to realize a 3D configurator for 9 different products (cardigan blazer, long and short sleeve turtleneck, sleeveless V-neck, long and short sleeve V-neck, sleeveless round-neck, long and sleeve round-neck), keeping specific aspects of the knitwear world into consideration, such as yarn and fineness, stitch, size, colour, accessories and eventual embroidery.
The Solution
In order to meet customer requirements, we embedded Zakeke 3D configurator, based on WebGL technology in WooCommerce. When landing on the page, the user can personalize each part, selecting the colour, the option embroidery, as well as writing a text on the collar label. Once the garment has been configured and visualized in real time, the order can be placed. During the generation of the 3D models for Designknit, we paid particular attention and took care of each detail, to provide a very faithful replica of the physical products expected by the customer. Given the “socketing” method, where weft and stitches are different from the ones of a shirt or a suit, the output of each fabric even on the same garment had to be enhanced (e.g. cashmere VS merino wool),. The same company owner, Paolo Facini, underlined the importance of “ensuring that the 3D modeling process did not jeopardize those differences and peculiarities” and felt impressed by our outcome.
