The customer

Alberto Catalini and Ennio Pieragostini founded Dami in Italy’s largest footwear district, Le Marche, in 1968. From being a leather shearing workshop, in the 1970s the owners decided to produce soles made of TR, for children’s footwear destined for the local firms. The company entered the European market during the 1990s, when production of bottoms for men’s and women’s shoes was started. Dami is a women-owned company, under the leadership of Elisabetta Pieragostini, and makes innovation, quality and sustainability its key concepts. Thanks to the use of 3D prototypes, waste is reduced and the best use is made of materials, with the advantage of being able to produce more complex shapes in terms of design, without lengthening delivery times.

The request

The company asked us to digitize different types of soles for men’s, women’s and children’s shoes (including ballerina, cassette, moccasin, sneaker, sandal and boot) and then integrate the low-poly 3D models into B2B eCommerce. The aim was to present the products in an innovative and ultra-realistic way, showing every detail of the design and every specific characteristic of the material in a faithful way.

The solution

To meet customer requirements, 3DSuite 3D Viewer with AR was integrated into the private area of the B2B website, based on the CMS Prestashop. We modelled 45 SKUs, providing, in addition to the standard view, an additional view showing the bottom of the sole and the side of the sole in the same frame. Furthermore, to give a concrete idea of the finished shoe in 3D, Dami selected the material and color combinations of the soles with their respective uppers to be modelled.

Benefits for the customer

3DSuite 3D Viewer allowed Dami’s B2B customers to perceive the quality of the soles and to view them 480 degrees in full screen and in augmented reality in their own environment. In this way, product selection is based on a more accurate evaluation, thanks to the immersive experience offered, reducing return rates and increasing the company’s operational efficiency. DAMI was very satisfied with the output of materials and textures and decided to directly display the 3D model of the finished shoe (sole and upper) within the B2B eCommerce product page.
