CARBOTTI

3D Configurator for eCommerce

The customer

Domenico Carbotti became interested in the world of leather goods as a young boy, when he began cutting and sewing leather to make saddles and harnesses for horses. In his early twenties, he decided to open his first workshop, taking orders from a local company. As customers grew, he founded Carbotti Domenico’s sole proprietorship in 1956, specializing in the production of women’s handbags. During the 1980s, his sons Angelo, Michele and Gianni also joined the company, thus Carbotti Srl was born, landing on the European and Asian markets, with an increasingly large and satisfied clientele. The brand’s founding values are a culture of craftsmanship, care for materials and sustainability.

The request

To further emphasize quality and craftsmanship, Carbotti decided to showcase the top models of the collection (Licia, Greta, Erika, Elena) in an innovative and engaging way within the website, giving customers the possibility to customize the product and get a real time visualization in 3D and in AR.

The solution

To meet Carbotti’s requirements, Zakeke 3D configurator, based on WebGL technology, was embedded in the eCommerce website (WooCommerce) via plug-in. The customer can choose color, leather type (hand-grained calf, crocodile, calfskin), metal finish, inner lining, deciding whether to add the perfume bottle as an accessory and simulate the opening or closing of the bag. Once it has been customized, the shopper can zoom in on every detail and also view the interior of the bag (with the perfume bottle, if any). For this reason we paid particular attention to the rendering of materials. Zakeke 3D configurator features dynamic pricing, which varies according to the options selected by the customer, and grafts between product page and shopping cart.

Benefits for the customer

Being able to view the configured bag in 3D means offering the customer a fully immersive shopping experience and increasing the time spent on the product page. By zooming in on details and exploring augmented reality, the perception of the product improves and the quality of the leathers used is emphasized. Another interesting benefit is the reduction in returns, due to the employment of the 3D configurator, as customers are more aware of what they are about to buy. Unsold stock is also zeroed, since the production starts only for bags, whose orders have been confirmed.
