Brico io

3D Modeling & 3D Viewer for eCommerce

The Customer

Brico io was founded in 1986 on the initiative of some private entrepreneurs who were experts in large-scale retail. Nowadays, there are over 110 stores in Italy, both direct and affiliated, and it is the leading Italian chain of DIY, for those who like to take care of their homes and gardens.

The Request

For DIY customers it is essential to feel autonomous when purchasing and instantly perceive the characteristics of the product they are looking for. For this reason, we were asked to make the online customer experience more immediate and interactive, showing products not only through 2D images, but also in 3D and augmented reality.
Brico io also needed a single tool to manage all the digitized products of the catalog, to be showcased in any B2B context or trade fair event.

The Solution

In order to meet Brico Io’s request, we integrated 3D Viewer via iframe directly into the product page of different lines of containers, bookcases, and drawer units, for about 100 SKUs in total.
The online user is able to feel like a protagonist and have a real-time interaction with the 3D model, up to the point of projecting it in their own space thanks to AR, in order to perceive its dimensions, both in the closed and in the open version.
Zakeke’s platform also facilitates the handling and collaborative management of the 3D assets within the DAM (Digital Asset Manager), where each model can be categorized and filtered, up to analysing the statistics related to 3D and AR views on any device.

Benefits for the customers

With Brico io we expanded the potential of 3D technology beyond the eCommerce website. Actually, the same immersive experience has been replicated during a trade fair, where the company “virtually” presented products, showing them only by scanning the QR code and avoiding physical handling. In this way, shipping costs were cut and visitor engagement increased.
Regarding the online experience, the main benefits for the brand were the ease of integration into the various websites of Brico Io’s ecosystem, the increase in time spent on the product page and the decrease in returns, thanks to the possibility to place the piece of furniture in the user’s environment with augmented reality, without having to go to the shop.
